Pastor Dan’s Bible Experiment Blog
In case you missed it, Pastor Dan is blogging about his journey through the Bible Experiment. Several times a week, he posts thoughts, questions, insights and encouragement. Be sure to check it out (www.storypoint.info/eph4one) and engage in the conversation with him. Ask questions and leave comments. I guarantee he’ll love it.
Third Thursday
This month, we are sharing a family dinner for Third Thursday. We’ll be enjoying home-made meatloaf and all kinds of extras. There will be eating, discussion of the reading we’re all doing for the Bible Experiment and we’ll conclude by celebrating communion together. All the fun begins at 6 p.m. Come on out and bring a hungry friend.
The Bible Experiment
The Bible is the best-selling book of all time… but most of us have never read it. Maybe you’ve heard parts of it read in church. Maybe you’ve even read through John-in-a-Box last fall. But most of us have never read the whole thing, cover to cover.
- But what if the Bible really can change our lives for the better?
- What if there’s something to this whole Christianity thing?
- What if God really does speak to people through this book?
So this year, we are going to join with Living Hope Community Church (our parent church) to read the Bible cover-to-cover, Genesis to Revelation in 2011.
- Six days a week, we’ll spend 10-15 minutes reading the chapters assigned for that day.
- Every Sunday, the pastor’s message will build upon what we’ve read together that week.
- Resources will be made available online for those who want to dig deeper or interact that way.
And by the end of the year, if you join us on this journey, you will have read every word of the Bible. You will know for yourself what it says, and you will have given God an opportunity to shape your thinking, your attitudes, your life.
(By the way… You don’t have to be “a believer” to join this experiment. Maybe you’re a responsible skeptic who just wants to read the book for yourself. Or you’re just genuinely curious about Christianity. Either way, we’d love for you to be a part of this!)

The first Gathering Ground went great. Plans are already underway for the next meeting and if all goes well it will be completely student led. Stay tuned for more information. If you want up to the minute information, text SPCCREFUGE to 41411 and never miss an update again.
